Description

Jepson, Edgar. The Garden at 19. New York: Wessels & Bissell Co., 1910. First U.S. edition. Octavo, 299 pages. Features four inserted plates with illustrations by H. B. Boehm. Bound in original pictorial olive-green cloth with front panel stamped in blue and white; some fading to the white elements. Stamping on the spine is completely faded. Published earlier in London in 1910 by Mills & Boon Limited under the title “No. 19.” This work intertwines elements of ancient Greek sorcery with the modernity of suburban London, reminiscent of Arthur Machen’s “The Great God Pan” and noted for its effectiveness as a horror thriller.
