James, G. P. R. – The Life and Times of Louis the Fourteenth, in four volumes. London: Richard Bentley, 1839. Half green morocco over marbled boards, unsigned but finely executed, with gilt-tooled spines and gilt top edges. Vivid blue, green, and gold marbled covers and matching endpapers. Original cloth covers bound into each volume. Light rubbing to joints, with moderate wear to edges and corners, exposing underlying material in places. Volume 4 shows notable wear at the head of the spine, with a minor tear along the shoulder. Internally, text blocks are generally clean and bright, with light foxing to the frontispieces and title pages. Bindings remain sound and tight throughout.
